Personality[]

Carly is a drilled and experienced soldier, and whilst not infallible she’ll always try to make the best decision for the greater good of the team rather than that of the mission objective. Generally, she enjoys having a sense of purpose, any challenge that provides her with a sense of achievement through adversity will often attract her attention. Though once again, this drive can act in opposition to her mission objective, possibly driving her from the easiest route in order to achieve the maximum result.

But despite her demeanor on the field of battle, she enjoys a laid back, relaxed, approach to her downtime, and at late night can be often be found in her cabin with a whiskey on the rocks. The Grenadier experienced a great loss on her first operation and never really adjusted to her reality as a result of such she can struggle making long lasting bonds with others outside of her fireteam.

Physical Description[]

Carly stands firm at the height of 1.7m. She has mid length auburn hair, which seems to have a natural curl to it, and so she likes to let hang down, but due to military regulation keeps it in a bun. She has a Pale skin tone as do most born in the UK, and always prefers not to use any tanning products. Her eyes are grey, her mother always said that they had a storm brewing, whenever she got aggravated. Carly keeps fit to the best of her ability to help her lug around her equipment but also finds it to be one of life's pleasures and will be spotted in the gym most days.

Bio[]

Carly's life at a young age revolved around an educated family's aspirations, having grown up in humanity's cradle. She had a sharp mind and was driven towards medicine by her parents. Unfortunately, their ambitions were never realised. Wanting to do her part Carly began to train and soon enlisted in the Marines at age 18.

Carly had an impressive start to her military career, participating in the Battle of Sigma Octanus IV, as she was one of the few to make it out alive. Though this was no brave or heroic act. Carly survived only through quick-witted cowardice, sealing off a section of alpha HQ the best she could and blasting whatever made it through until the strike team returned.

Peace between placements never lasted long for Carly. She was soon stationed on an orbital research platform above the planet’s reach. Unfortunately, this setting was no less quiet; as it got close to the end of her placement, Reach was invaded by the full might of the covenant. As such, Carly was responsible for the hasty evacuation of the platform. She was mainly involved in internal security and dealing with drunk and disorderly officers and researchers.

After the harrowing scenes witnessed at the fall of reach, Carly was evacuated back to her home on earth. She was given a week of shore leave after a poor psychometric evaluation. Still, her time of rest once again never lasted, as she was promptly withdrawn from left to be stationed on New Mombasa just before the slip space incident. Unfortunately, her experience was no less harrowing, with the near entirety of her fire team perishing defending and evacuating civilians. As luck would have it, Carly crossed paths with an ODST squad, which allowed her to fight alongside them in their mission to evacuate the residential district. Eventually leading them to destroy a covenant operating base just outside the city.

Following on from the aftermath of the slipspace incident, Carly was recommended for an ODST position which she gladly accepted. Like many, she soon discovered how challenging and gruelling the experience would be, genuinely pushing her to her limits. Carly was drafted into the 3rd Helljumper platoon, a unit of the 105th shock troops division. Her first operation was stationed on the UNSC Eminent Domain, deploying onto Draetheus V's moon X50. Carly found herself as one of the first waves of ODSTs to land on the moon. And whilst the landing zone was less than a mile from Research Facility Alpha, a mishap during the landing caused her squad to scatter across the nearby Glacial Perch mountain range.

They were quickly surrounded by Covenant infantry and took heavy losses. Carly had set up a makeshift defensive position to help those fighting to survive. She endured with the help of a Spartan Davis. Continuing to fight and gather the stranded ODSTs and liberate the moon’s surface from covenant forces.

After the ‘victory’ in the Battle of Draetheus V, Carly was assigned to a new position in the Joint Occupation Zone. The ODST acted as a peacekeeper between the Sangheili and Human worlds, Carly found her many new tasks boring, to say the least; she didn’t miss the deep wounds that combat had caused her. But it was better than the petty squabbling of politicians. The Sangheili were fine. They would fight over any problems they had; it was the Human politics that made Carly question her task on the planet. Carly requested to be moved to a new station, hoping it would prove to be better than what trivial tasks she was doing at the moment.
